2005 New Venture Creation Contest
The fourth Murphy Enterprise Center Business Plan Contest was held on June 17, 2005 with a new format and was for UNT students only. The Murphy Enterprise Center exists to help in the launch of new business and provide opportunities for students. The contest gives students a way to earn the seed money to start their businesses.
First Place - E-Opportunity
E-Opportunity, a McKinney-based Internet consulting firm which will target small businesses, won the New Venture Creation Contest sponsored by the Murphy Enterprise Center on June 17. Justin Thomason and Tucker Covington presented their business plan to a panel of judges and earned their start-up business $15,000 in seed money, as well as mentorship and the motivation to begin a search for customers.
The first place prize is $15,000.
Second Place - Strebe Imports
Daniel Strebe's start-up import company, Strebe Imports, earned second place in the contest. Strebe Imports will provide high quality handmade leather products within the price range of the average student. His products are geared to 18-25 year-olds and will be made in India.
The second place prize is $10,000.
Third Place - Freelink Wireless Services
Winner of third place in the contest was Steve Basmajian for his entrepreneurial venture, Freelink Wireless Services, a new mobile phone network.
The third place prize is $5,000.
